‘Imperial Magnolia’ was created over Autumn into Winter aligning with the growth and the blooming of the Magnolia Soulangeana trees in my neighbourhood.
My painting is inspired from an antique Chinese cabinet in my family home as a child, made of black lacquered wood with a painted gold leaf side panel of a single branch with the flowering Chinese ‘Magnolia Denudata’
