about

The Tasmanian Devil is Tasmania’s iconic species after the Thylacine. Tragically the Devil is facing possible extinction due to a terrible cancerous disease that has decimated the population. The Facial Tumour Disease is thought to have originated due to a huge amount of chemicals dumped in a National Park on the East Coast of Tasmania.

The original design of this unique creature was modelled in clay and then moulded in plaster. The piece is slip cast and then hand finished using wax resist techniques.

All animals I produce are very durable as they are made from a porcelain/stoneware body, fired to 1280oC.

“Please help our Devil to not go extinct,

a horrible disease is in their midst!

Where it has come from nobody knows,

it’s dollars we need, so experts can propose

a cure for this menace that threatens a species,

if we lose such an icon our image will be in pieces!”
