about
‘Tarkine in Peril’ is a large work I made as a response to the devastating destruction of this important forest in Tasmania. This forest has been under threat from logging and mining for a number of years now by the government who view it as a resource to be exploited. This largest temperate rainforests also happens to be a place of immense Aboriginal history and one of the last intact wilderness’s left on this earth. In this painting, I sought to give voice to the silent giants that stand, weathered and wise, in the heart of the Tarkine Forest.
