Having completed a Fine Arts degree with a major in sculpture in South Korea, Juyeon Kim opened a studio in Melbourne, Australia specializing in individually handcrafted ceramic and sculpture.
She reinterprets traditional Korean pottery techniques with a contemporary sensibility, creating unique pieces.
Inspired by the intangible, such as sunsets, dance, the glistening of sand in sunlight, and the expressions of strangers, her work is characterized by distinct lines and angles yet softened by irregular surface treatments. Her distinctive design style draws inspiration from the periods of Cubism and Brutalism.
Through her ceramics, Juyeon seeks to foster a deeper connection between humans and the natural world.
