About the Artist

With more than two decades of professional practice, Greta Laundy is a respected South Australian contemporary artist known for her expressive and introspective abstract works. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (First Class Honours) from the University of South Australia, and her paintings have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationwide.

Her achievements include finalist selections in several notable Australian art prizes, such as the Lethbridge 20000, Kennedy Art Prize, and Omnia Art Prize.

Inspired by the Land

Growing up on farms in regional South Australia, Greta developed a deep and enduring relationship with the natural environment — a connection that remains central to her creative practice.

In Resonance, she revisits landscapes that have shaped her imagination, including Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, the Coorong, and the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. Each work draws upon personal memories of place, capturing their emotional and visual power through abstraction.

Emotion Through Abstraction

Rather than depicting literal scenes, Greta’s paintings explore the emotional and sensory essence of the landscape. Through translucent layers of colour, delicate mark-making, and shifting linework, she evokes the movement of water, the play of light, and the rhythm of the natural world.

Each painting evolves slowly — built up through thin glazes, then partially erased or wiped back, leaving behind residual marks that speak to time, memory, and transformation. The resulting surfaces feel alive and fluid, mirroring the changing states of both landscape and emotion.

A Love Song to Nature

Resonance stands as a celebration of nature’s power to inspire, heal, and connect. Greta Laundy’s works invite viewers to pause, reflect, and rediscover their own places of resonance and peace — moments where landscape and emotion meet in quiet harmony.
