This poignant body of work marks a defining moment in the artist’s creative journey — an intimate tribute to her late mother, expressed through the meditative language of still life.

Trained in design, Minnie holds a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication and worked as a Graphic Designer for 15 years before transitioning to painting full-time. “I painted in my kitchen for years,” she recalls, “and now have a home studio where I paint every day — I feel very grateful.”
Minnie’s journey as an artist began as a way to navigate grief. After the unexpected loss of her mother, an artist friend suggested painting as a form of therapy. That small gesture opened a new chapter of creative and emotional discovery. Later, through study at the Sarah McDonald Art School, she refined her technique in oils and found her voice as a painter.
In Ascending Stillness, Minnie offers viewers a space of gentle reflection. Each painting evokes calm and balance, echoing the process of finding peace after loss. Her still lifes are quiet yet powerful, capturing the emotional resonance of transformation — from sorrow to serenity.
“These paintings have no noise; they are silent,” Minnie writes in her artist statement. “The force of air is quietly ascending. It’s the same sensation I felt when Mum left. The ascending organic matter is life — it’s the elevation of grief, but at the same time, the elevation of coming alive.”
This debut solo exhibition is not only a deeply personal dedication but also an invitation for viewers to find solace in stillness. Through subtle composition and refined tonal harmony, Minnie transforms private emotion into shared experience — an offering of beauty born from reflection.
