The Botanical Imagination presents a new body of paintings by Sydney-based artist Sally Browne that move between observation and imagination. Beginning with birds, flowers, interiors and fragments of landscape, her works evolve through an intuitive process of layering and revision, allowing familiar forms to shift towards abstraction. The resulting paintings create imagined spaces where the domestic and the wild, memory and nature, quietly converge.
Originally from the UK, Browne completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School in 2025 after establishing a successful botanical practice with work held in private collections internationally. Her recent practice embraces a more open, process-led approach, balancing botanical references with abstraction and expressive mark-making.
