We’re thrilled to share that Amanda Westley, a talented Ngarrindjeri artist who has been exhibiting with Art Images Gallery for the past four years, has achieved an incredible milestone. Her artwork 'Raukkan' (meaning meeting place) was recently gifted to Pope Leo XIV by Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.
This prestigious moment is not just a personal achievement for Amanda but a proud moment for Ngarrindjeri culture and South Australian art. Raukkan represents the meeting place for the Ngarrindjeri people, with its colours symbolizing different parts of Ngarrindjeri country.
Amanda, who has been a professional artist for over ten years, was initially unaware that her work had been chosen. She found out through social media, and the news quickly went viral. As she shared, “I’m super proud that it's Ngarrindjeri art... it's about Ngarrindjeri country, so it means a lot.”
At Art Images Gallery, we’re honoured to have showcased Amanda’s work, and we’re thrilled to announce that all of her original paintings have now sold out! This achievement is a testament to her talent and dedication to keeping her culture alive through art.
While we no longer have original works by Amanda available, you can still own a piece of her powerful art through our Limited Edition Giclee Prints. Check out the collection here: Amanda Westley Prints.
Amanda’s art being presented to Pope Leo XIV marks a historic moment for both the artist and the Ngarrindjeri community. It’s a celebration of culture, passion, and artistry. We couldn’t be prouder of her success and look forward to supporting her future artistic journey.
