Louise Vadasz is an Australian painter known for her still life paintings of flowers (painted from life) and her use of bright colours and thick oil paint. Her still lives are a mixture of real and made-up colours and patterns, employed with quite a bit of creative licence to enhance the design of the paintings.
Sentimental Values is Louise’s first major solo exhibition at Art Images Gallery, as part of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
“These paintings incorporate embroidered tablecloths and fabric patterns belonging to my mother, used as tactile records of intimacy and domestic labour. Painted into the works, these materials speak to personal obligation, inheritance, and familial heritage.
The exhibition centres on the materiality of memory and a shared emotional history with my mother, where domestic gestures are understood as acts of care. Floral motifs recur throughout the paintings, representing joy and a positive approach to mental wellbeing.
While rooted in private sentiment, Sentimental Values invites viewers into a warm, communal experience shaped by care, memory, and connection”.
