Lise Temple has been painting South Australian landscapes for almost 20 years. Her paintings explore the experience of viewing place from changing viewpoints, moving through degrees of abstraction. Her portfolio features lyrical abstract landscapes and abstracted interiors which she develops through a collage composition process. Additionally, smaller outdoor paintings are produced as studies en plein air. Bold colour, generous application of impasto paint and lively brushwork feature throughout. The true subject of the work is always the colour, form and design.
Lise studied Fine Art, Science and Landscape Design at RMIT and UNE. She moved to rural South Australia in 2003 to consolidate her art practice. She is a frequent finalist in national art prizes including Hadleys Art Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize, Fleurieu Peninsula Biennale and Whyalla Art Prizes. Lise has held numerous solo exhibitions and is represented by several interstate galleries.
