Joan Blond regards herself as a contemporary, abstract expressionist artist who is mostly self-taught. Based in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, Joan is inspired by the Australian landscape, depicting flora and botanical imagery as metaphors for a diverse, rich and fulfilling life. Joan's paintings combine organic forms with generous layers of bold colours and energetic line work. She works mainly with acrylic paint but will introduce other mediums and textures if she feels it appropriate. With confident and instinctive brush strokes, Joan continues to experiment and challenge herself with different mediums.
