Working as an intuitive painter has taught me to release expectations, embrace change, and experiment with new ideas. It's a journey of self-discovery where you explore what resonates with you, accept your true self, and find joy in the process.
My paintings are a reflection of the things that bring me joy, encapsulating my fascination with the intricate layers of life experiences and the beauty found in ageing and imperfection. I aspire for my artwork to evoke a sense of nostalgia, harking back to seemingly simpler times.
Over the past few years, my artistic focus has centred on the fusion of patterns and botanical shapes. I pondered for a while why this specific combination intrigued me. Eventually, I realised that my love for textiles and design had been the driving force behind this choice. I'm particularly drawn to the contrast between the structured and formal patterns and the untamed, abstract representations of nature. This blend speaks to the inner conflict we all grapple with—the desire to control and structure our lives juxtaposed with the recognition of our innate surrender to the unpredictable and our authentic selves breaking through.
In this era, it feels like we're undergoing significant change. For centuries, we've lived with duality—chaos and calm, light and dark, structure and wildness, intellect and emotion, masculine and feminine. My work aims to inspire an appreciation for how these elements can harmonise rather than clash. I believe that now is the time to embrace the beauty in these differences and visualise a world where we all collaborate to create a better future for everyone.
