Eliza Piro was born in Adelaide and spent her younger years growing up in Clare in the mid-north of South Australia. Further study at the Melbourne School of Photography gave Eliza a greater understanding of colour, texture and form which led into experimenting with different mediums. Eliza now practices as a full-time artist working in acrylic and watercolour on canvas and paper.
Eliza is inspired by the kaleidoscope of colours that she encounters in both her daily life and her many travels. India has had a particular influence on Eliza’s work with its tapestry of rich hues, patterns and textures and her rhythmic brushstrokes capture the essence of a land where colour is not just pigment, but a living, breathing entity.
Many of the works in this exhibition have also been inspired by recent holidays snorkelling off the Great Barrier Reef while marvelling at the delicate coral formations and their fragility juxtaposed against the vastness of the ocean.
Eliza’s work is bold, spirited, and beautiful. Her paintings are a celebration of colour, pattern, and nature’s intricate forms to convey a sense of optimism and joy.
