A work of misty atmosphere and depth depicting a landscape near my home in the Clare Valley where rolling hills and vineyards change mood and colour with the passing seasons. Part of Pikes Estate is to the right, while the left side horizon looks north to the Burra hills.
The great painter David Hockney died while I was painting this canvas. I felt a kinship to his final great cycle of plein air English landscapes with their verdant greens, fresh colour and evocation of spatial depth.
