This painting is a celebration of the rich, rolling landscapes of McLaren Vale. An iconic wine region where rows of vines stretch between gum trees, hills, and the sea. I was drawn to the quiet rhythms of this land, shaped by generations of grape growers whose work harmonizes with the seasons. In capturing the texture of the soil, the warmth of the light, and the geometry of the vineyards, I use my palette knife to create rich, textured layers of thick oil paint. In contrast, the thinner, more subtle washes of colour towards the horizon, also suggest a vulnerability of a disappearing landscape.
