Christopher Meadows trained in visual art and art teaching at the Adelaide College of Arts & Education and University of South Australia. He worked as an art/design teacher in Australia and overseas, while maintaining an ongoing painting and illustration practice. Upon returning to South Australia in 2014, he began to concentrate full time on his painting and sculpture, eventually establishing his studio/gallery in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Christopher has since won several major art awards including the Parklands Art Prize, West Torrens Art Prize and Watershed Art Prize. His passion for figurative art has always provided inspiration and has become the foundation for his work as an artist. He is regarded as a careful compositional draftsman who uses traditional mediums and techniques to develop images and forms that convey a sense of quietness. Natural and urban landscapes as well as memory and the imprint of human life remain a constant source of inspiration.
