Mishka Ammann’s landscape work is inspired by the beauty and serenity of Kangaroo island; the intricacy of the coastal vegetation and the uniqueness of the bushland and waterways. Her studio is at Antichamber Bay adjacent to Chapman river and Lashmar Lagoon.
Having completed a Bachelor of Education Degree in Creative Arts in 1976 and furthering her Visual Art qualifications at Adelaide central school she worked in teaching, set design and portraiture, more recently, in retirement, finding delight in the landscape. Mishka has been part of joint art exhibitions in Adelaide and on the island for over 25 years.
Travelling to remote parts of Australia allows her to observe the changing moods of nature. The vibrant seascapes and skyscapes, as well as the birdlife, inspire her to shoot many photos as references before taking them back to her studio to use as guides to her compositions. She uses artistic licence to capture in oil paint or pastel the breathtaking wonder of the moment.
