Wheel thrown and hand sculpted vase with multiple holes for flowers.
This vase, inspired by gardens is based on the historical form of the Tulippiere, which originated in the Netherlands in the 17th Century, when tulips were highly valued as status symbols and there was a need to display multiple individual flowers in the home. The Tulippieres were tall ceramic pieces with holes or spouts spaced evenly around the vase, so that a single bulb or flower could be displayed in each hole. I have added an interactive element to these, allowing the bees to be moved to another hole and replaced with a flower.
