“Ideally, a painting should be fresh, cleanly executed, and poetic, respecting the materials that compose it and the hand that made it. A mechanical technique runs the risk of producing an object, not an experience”.
– Harry Sherwin
Harry Sherwin works in watercolour, oils, mixed media and collage, generally in a painterly, realistic style. He combines ‘plein air’ painting with studio practice and his subjects include landscape, seascape, still life, interiors, the Figure, portraiture and social themes.
After completing an Advanced Diploma of Teaching (Fine Art), Harry continues to share his passion for painting by educating others, and working as an Art Master teacher, while furthering his art practice.
Harry moved to Watervale in the 1980’s and has lived in the region ever since. He finds inspiration for his artworks in the rich source of colours from the four distinct seasons in the Clare Valley. Harry has showcased his works in many exhibitions around South Australia and has received numerous awards and achievements.
