Elodie Barker is a professional South Australian ceramic artist. She studied at the University of South Australia where she learnt numerous skills and techniques in ceramics. In 1995 she graduated with a Bachelor of Ceramic and Glass Design. On completion of her studies she was accepted into the prestigious JamFactory where she undertook two years of a career development scheme as an Associate in the Ceramics Studio. Here she began to market and develop a range of sculptural and ceramic-based products. She now works from her own studio where she continues to create, hand-make and decorate various sculptural and thrown works. Her main ideas revolve around animals and decorative patterns and sculptural forms. “I love ceramics. I greatly admire this medium. It is really hands-on and every piece evolves as I work on it. The colours, lines, expression and the way I feel become an important part of each individual piece.” E.B.
