Born in Germany, Amica spent much of her childhood on the rugged coast of England’s Isle of Wight. Following several years traveling the world, she eventually emigrated to Australia with her family, initially settling in Brisbane before moving to her current home in Gympie, a former gold mining town in southeast Queensland.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Queensland University of Technology in 2003, Amica worked for several years as an art teacher before she began her full-time painting career. She exhibits her paintings regularly and in 2017, her solo exhibition, Holding Space, was held at Sydney’s Michael Reid Gallery. Amica’s work Gorecki (2017) was a finalist in the Contemporary Art Awards and her paintings have been featured on The Block, Grand Designs Australia and Channel 9 Postcards.
Amica’s work is currently held in several public collections including Tramway Interiors, Port Douglas and Olympus Medical, Sydney and in private collections in Greece, Panama and Australia. Upcoming solo exhibitions will be presented at Art Images Gallery, Adelaide and Bay Gallery Home, Tetbury, UK.
