about
During the Age of Discovery, sailors left the “Old World” and embarked on their voyages. Early maps featured exotic animals and monsters explorers feared they would encounter on their travels. Most were works of pure fantasy, but often actual creatures would exceed their expectations. This piece plays homage to the age of discovery and in particular the growing interest in the natural world. My favourite theory from this time, is that for every land creature there was an equivalent sea creature (e.g. Cow/Sea Cow, Hog/Sea Hog etc.).
