Billie Justice Thomson

After studying Visual Arts for 4 years specialising in painting at the South Australian School of Art, I moved to Melbourne in early 2011. During my time in Melbourne I had a relatively successful studio practice and immersed myself in the rich arts culture the city had to offer. In 2016, I returned to Adelaide to raise a family and to focus on my career as an artist.

I use a unique technique of painting directly onto clear Perspex or glass and working in the reverse. I have been painting full-time for a number of years now. My practice also includes a commercial aspect; public murals, illustration and private commissions.

My work explores nostalgia and sentimentality through memorialising common objects, iconic Australian imagery and food.

Paintings on Perspex and glass reference symbols of domestic simplicity, aggrandising the delights of eating, drinking and the day to day miracles of existence.
